Matt and Chantal McGee
Matt and Chantal McGee moved to Cimarron, Colorado in 2004 to start Sonrise Mountain Ranch. Before following a call into vocational ministry, Matt and Chantal both served as U.S. Air Force pilots for several years. After their time in the Air Force, Matt attended Denver Seminary completing a Masters of Divinity program and Chantal began homeschooling their children. The McGees now have seven children: Maddison, Abby Grace, Rebekah, Eden, Zeke, Vivian Joy and Colson.
Roger and Val joined the SMR staff in March of 2012. Val served as Director of Children’s Ministry at Grace Community Church, and office manager of R.D. Construction before joining SMR as the Operations Assistant. This spring Roger transitioned from Facilities Manager at Sonrise to return to home building and remodeling in the Montrose area. Roger and Val have six adult children and nine grandchildren. In their spare time they enjoy exploring the Cimarron valley on horseback.
Sonrise is blessed to have Adam and Kim as part of the Sonrise family for several years. Along with their kids, they have been able to serve in various ways around the Ranch. In 2013, Kim took on the role as lead cook and Adam, in between his day job in Montrose, washes a few dishes and helps with the facilities crew when he can. They have a married daughter and a son who recently graduated from high school. Together they love to serve and pray for the families who come to Sonrise.
Nathan and Staci Schulz
Nathan and Staci Schulz, along with their children Paige, Levi and Ayden moved from Olathe, Co to Cimarron to serve on the Sonrise Mountain Ranch summer staff in 2018, but in fall of 2019 transitioned to full time staff members. Nathan is serving as Facilities Director and Staci is serving as Assistant Cook in the kitchen. Their children, Paige, Levi and Ayden are learning to trust and serve God in many ways. They are helping in the Children’s ministry and anywhere else they can; their favorite area to serve is crawdad fishing lessons!
2020 Summer Staff
Ben is the oldest of 4 and is going into his senior year at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS pursuing a double major in Spanish and Global/International Studies. He has a big heart for Sonrise (where he was on staff as a Youth and Children’s Programming Intern in 2016) and is so excited to serve on the Facilities team this summer while learning more about what God has planned for his life and future. He doesn’t know exactly how his next stage of life will play out, but he is certain that God will show him the way forward. He enjoys running, riding his moped, and anything to do with Taco Bell.
Paige grew up going to Sonrise with her family and has loved it every time. She has 3 brothers and grew up in Highlands Ranch, CO. I believe the good Lord is leading me on to serve Him in Church and Young Adult Ministry in my next phases of life. All for His Glory!”
