Meet the Staff

Matt and Chantal McGee

Matt and Chantal McGee moved to Cimarron, Colorado in 2004 to start Sonrise Mountain Ranch. Before following a call into vocational ministry, Matt and Chantal both served as U.S. Air Force pilots for several years. After their time in the Air Force, Matt attended Denver Seminary completing a Masters of Divinity program and Chantal began homeschooling their children. The McGees now have seven children: Maddison, Abby Grace, Rebekah, Eden, Zeke, Vivian Joy and Colson.

Roger and Val Drown

Roger and Val joined the SMR staff in March of 2012. Roger spent the previous twenty-five years building custom homes in Boulder and Montrose, Colorado. He uses his building experience as the Facilities Manager here at SMR. Val served as Director of Children’s Ministry at Grace Community Church, and office manager of R.D. Construction before joining SMR as the Operations Assistant. Roger and Val have six adult children and nine grandchildren.

Adam and Kim Turner

Sonrise is blessed to have Adam and Kim as part of  the Sonrise family for several years.  Along with their kids, they have been able to serve in various ways around the Ranch.  In 2013, Kim took on the role as lead cook and Adam, in between his day job in Montrose,  washes a few dishes and helps with the facilities crew when he can.  They have a married daughter and a son who recently graduated from high school.  Together they love to serve and pray for the families who come to Sonrise.

Nathan and Staci Schulz 

Nathan and Staci Schulz, along with their children Paige, Levi and Ayden moved from Olathe, Co to Cimarron to serve on the Sonrise Mountain Ranch summer staff in 2018, but in fall of 2019 transitioned to full time staff members. Nathan is serving as Facilities Director and Staci is serving as Assistant Cook in the kitchen. Their children, Paige, Levi and Ayden are learning to trust and serve God in many ways. They are helping in the Children’s ministry and anywhere else they can; their favorite area to serve is crawdad fishing lessons!

2019 Summer Staff

Ammie Akzam

Ammie is a senior at Central Methodist university in Fayette, MO studying elementary education.  She has  been passionate  about teaching children for a very long time and is serving on the Youth and Children Program team this summer.    Ammie says, “When I have the time I love to paint and hike when weather allows it. I am so excited to see what God has in store for me here at Sonrise. Looking forward to this new journey!”

Lauren Dammarell

Lauren is from Monument CO, the second of 5 kids and is a  psychology major at Taylor University,  a small Christian university in the middle of nowhere Indiana.  She has traded the middle of cornfields for the middle of the beautiful Cimarron valley.   Lauren says, “I am so excited to be here in the kitchen at Sonrise this summer! I have always had a love for cooking so I love being in the kitchen.  A big hobby of mine is photography so I hope to practice a lot this summer in such a pretty place.   I cannot wait to see how the Lord will transform my heart this summer and also use me to love and serve all the families that get to come up to Sonrise!”

Jack Flowers

Jack grew up in Fairhope, AL and is the youngest of three boys. He is currently enrolled at Auburn University and is a junior majoring in Civil Engineering. He enjoys hanging with friends and family and just about any sport with a ball. Jack is super excited to serve this summer and see what God has in store!

Adlai Greene

Adlai Greene resides in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She is a junior year  at Bridgewater State University, majoring in Elementary Education. She has five sisters and one brother and falls in the middle of the sibling line up. For the majority of her life, Adlai’s father has served in the  United States Air Force, so she has moved around her entire life; a total of nine times! This experience allowed Adlai to appreciate the diversity and unique attributes of different states and countries. Adlai loves to do things outdoors with her family and friends. She also loves trying to roast the perfect marshmallow. She is super excited to be at Sonrise on the Youth and Children Program Team this summer and looks forward to the opportunity to serve others in the name of the Lord.

Ansley Melton

Ansley is from Pearisburg, Virginia and is the youngest of four children.  She is going into her junior year at Liberty University as a vocal performance major.  Some of her passions include soccer, hiking, music, and enjoying time with family and friends.  Ansley is extremely excited to be serving on the Youth and Children Program team this summer and is hopeful for what the Lord has in store!

Anna Claire Noblitt

Anna Claire is from Fairhope, Alabama and attends Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.  She is studying Communication Studies and Political Science and hopes to be  involved in public policy making.  In her free time, Anna Claire enjoys playing sports, enjoying warm weather and the beach at home, fishing, traveling, reading, and writing.  She is so excited to lead in Youth and Children Program Team and enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime experience of living in Cimarron.

Asa Williams

Asa Williams is from Birmingham, Alabama and is the youngest of three boys. Asa is a junior at Auburn University and is studying Accounting with a Minor in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies. Some of Asa’s passions include being a Young Life leader back in Auburn, anything outdoors, and most sports. Asa is excited to serve so many families this summer as well as grow in his walk with the Lord.

Matt Williamson

In 2014, Matt graduated from North Greenville University in Greenville, SC with an accounting degree. Having worked as the project manager for an executive consultant & later at a video production company before coming to Sonrise, you could say he’s a long way from home–literally and metaphorically.
Having taught Sunday School for 3 1/2 years, he’s excited to join Sonrise as the Youth & Children’s Programming Director. After his time at Sonrise, Matt plans to dive back into project management while working towards launching a nonprofit focused on basic biblical instruction and introducing students to the joy of running.
