Matt and Chantal McGee
Matt and Chantal McGee moved to Cimarron, Colorado in 2004 to start Sonrise Mountain Ranch. Before following a call into vocational ministry, Matt and Chantal both served as U.S. Air Force pilots for several years. After their time in the Air Force, Matt attended Denver Seminary completing a Masters of Divinity program and Chantal began homeschooling their children. The McGees now have seven children: Maddison, Abby Grace, Rebekah, Eden, Zeke, Vivian Joy and Colson.
Roger and Val joined the SMR staff in March of 2012. Roger spent the previous twenty-five years building custom homes in Boulder and Montrose, Colorado. He uses his building experience as the Facilities Manager here at SMR. Val served as Director of Children’s Ministry at Grace Community Church, and office manager of R.D. Construction before joining SMR as the Operations Assistant. Roger and Val have six adult children and eight grandchildren.
The Turner family has been friends of Sonrise for many years, finding various ways to serve and be a part of the incredible vision for families and the growth of the Kingdom of God. They are pleased to be allowed the opportunity to serve this year as lead cook and chief bottle washer. They are excited for the opportunities to see their kids’ vision for the Kingdom increase and be a living laboratory for their personal growth in relationship with the King.

The Schulz Family
Nathan and Staci Schulz, along with their children Paige, Levi and Ayden have recently moved
from Olathe, Co to Cimarron to serve on the Sonrise Mountain Ranch summer staff. They are excited to be a part of all the amazing work being done at Sonrise as they continue to seek God’s direction for the next chapter of their lives. Nathan is serving as Facilities Assistant and Staci is serving as Assistant Cook in the kitchen. Their children, Paige, Levi and Ayden are learning to trust and serve God in many ways. They are helping in the Children’sministry and anywhere else they can; their favorite area to serve is crawdad fishing lessons! They are thankful to be on staff and look forward to the plans God has for them.
Britton grew up in Fairhope, Alabama as the oldest of three boys. He graduated from the University of Alabama in May 2017, with a degree in Operations Management. After graduation, Britton worked for a medical reprocessing company in Birmingham, Alabama. He is pleased to be serving at Sonrise this summer as the Youth Programing Director, and is extremely excited to see what the Lord has in store!
Lukas and Lizeth Perez
Lukas is from Cimarron, Colorado near Sonrise Mountain Ranch. He attended University in Seattle, WA. Lizeth grew up in Juarez Mexico in a children’s home that is part of Youth With A Mission (YWAM). After high school she went into full time ministry with YWAM Ships in Kona, Hawaii where in 2014 she met Lukas who was volunteering with YWAM Ships. The Perez’s have been married for 2 years and have a one year old daughter, Lainey. They enjoy traveling and meeting new people as well as learning to love others well. The Perez’s have a passion to see relationships restored and walk out the kingdom of God in family life and community.
Sarah is from Littleton, Colorado and is number six of seven children. She grew up in a strong Christian family, which aided in developing in her own personal faith. She graduated from Front Range Christian School in May of 2018 and plans to take a gap year for missions work after her summer internship at Sonrise. Sarah has a passion for working with people, especially children. She loves to sing, draw, read, and rock climb.
Nathan graduated from Wheaton College this past May with a degree in Physics. Prior to that, he grew up in Simi Valley, CA as the youngest of three boys. He enjoys all things outdoors—including hiking, swimming in the ocean, pole vaulting, and basketball. At Wheaton, Nathan was a worship leader and captain for the track team. He is enthused to be a part of Christ’s kingdom work at Sonrise this summer.
Melody is from Kenosha Wisconsin and will begin her senior year at Wheaton College this fall as a Communications major. She grew up in a family with six siblings, four girls and one boy. Interestingly, she is a twin and middle child along with her brother. Melody grew up playing soccer, and runs track on the Wheaton team. Music is a passion of hers and place of true joy. While she is unsure of what the future holds, she is excited to work at Sonrise which allows her to get to know and care for others.
Lily is a native Chicagoan. This fall she will be starting her first year of college at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, United Kingdom. She will be studying Drama, Applied Theatre, and Education, and concentrating in Writing for Performance. She attended Sonrise often with her family and is excited to join the intern team.
After volunteering in the kitchen with her aunt Kim for many years, Anna is returning to the Sonrise team as an assistant cook. She is from Grand Junction Colorado and will be a junior in high school this fall. Anna loves to spend time with family and friends, bake, work with kids, sing and play the ukulele, and talk to people!
