Sonrise Mountain Ranch is located 35 miles southeast of Montrose, Colorado. Commercial flights are available into Montrose (45 minute drive), Gunnison (70 minutes), Grand Junction (2 hours), Colorado Springs (4.5 hours), or Denver (5 hours).

Many GPS computers are not accurate with remote mountain roads and may send you on a wrong path.  Please note the directions below.

From Denver / Colorado Springs / Gunnison:
Proceed from Denver or Colorado Springs over Monarch Pass to Gunnison. Proceed west out of Gunnison on Hwy 50 towards Montrose for 42 miles until you reach the turnoff for Cimarron road, aka Big Cimarron road and County Road 858. The turnoff is just after mile marker 115 (Using the mile markers is the easiest way to identify the correct turnoff). Look for the road sign marked Silver Jack Reservoir and turn left (south) onto the gravel road. Shortly after the turn, you will see a sign that indicates you are on Big Cimarron Road. Continue south for about 13 miles (use your odometer) to the dark brown lodge of Sonrise Mountain Ranch which will be on your left and next to a small lake. The road has some hairpin turns so you want to take it pretty slow at times.

From Montrose:
Proceed east out of Montrose on Hwy 50 towards Gunnison. After passing through the tiny township of Cimarron, continue 2 miles to the turnoff for Cimarron road, aka Big Cimarron road and County Road 858.  The turnoff is just prior to mile marker 115 (Using the mile markers is the easiest way to identify the correct turnoff). Look for the road sign marked Silver Jack Reservoir and turn right (south) onto the gravel road.

From Ridgeway (Over Owl Creek Pass) … Only available June – mid October:
Proceed north out of Ridgeway on Hwy 550 for about 2 miles to Owl Creek Pass Road (County Road 10) which is a dirt road. Turn right (east) on CR 10. CR 10 eventually merges with CR 858. Follow the signs on CR 858 over Owl Creek Pass to Silver Jack Reservoir. Once you pass Silver Jack Reservoir, you’ll go another 5 miles north on the same road to get to the dark brown SMR lodge which will be on your right, next to a small lake. The drive should take about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Ridgeway to SMR.
